Beginning planting flowers

When I was a kid, I could stand and watch the beauty of flowers in the neighboring yard for hours. As I’ve become older, I’ve waited for flowers from boys. And now my dream is to have a flower plantation, but I walk around the small garden near my home.

And beginning planting flower always is hard work for us. We need to select the right place, to find qualitative soil and the right time, to choose our flowers and to care for them in the right way. But that shouldn’t frighten us because it is worth this beauty in our garden.

Let’s take a closer look at this problem!

Right location

One of the most important parts for ‘starting’ florist is to choose the right location. It depends on a kind of flower. Some of them prefer to grow in sun, another one – in the shade, thirds – the combination of both. But we need to remember about the measure and to find the middle ground. For example, if it is a light-loving flower, we shouldn’t plant it in the direct sun rays or a shade-loving flower in the full shade.

Light-loving flowers, such as roses, are very sensitive to light and warm weather. Plant them in well-lit areas and reliably protected from cold winds – this is the southern and south-eastern side of the yard.

Lilies, peonies, and phloxes are also light-loving flowers, but not unpretentious. And choosing of place for these flowers depends on us.

Shadowy places are suitable only for varieties that weave. These are Christmas roses, hostas, pachysandra or another one

Good soil

The soil for flowers is selected according to individual peculiarities. For example, weak and delicate plants require soft, light soil and more dense soil – to grow seedlings. If we don’t want to worry, we can buy it in any flower shop. But not always this purchased soil justifies our expectations.

We can try to make it at home and used to prepare the ground for flowers the following components: perlite, peat, turf, humus, leaf, sphagnum, sand. The soil must be fried before mixing components. It shouldn’t have larvae or warms. We put it by layers. The first layer is drainage. Leaf soil is mixed with turf.

The roots of ferns and coconut fiber improve the quality of the ground. As drainage is used pebbles, claydite, bricks and even bits of foam. We keep the ground for flowers only in a moist condition.  We can use fertilizers for the quality of the soil.

Thus, if there is a choice which is the best ground for flowers, we give preference to soil with revised and qualitative components, prepared by ourselves.

Choose our flowers

Each of us wants to have the best flower in our gardens. And when we go to the flower shop, forget some things: the most beautiful flowers need the best caring and they are a little different from pictures on the package. Take the time, if we don’t want to be disappointed. The easiest way is to buy a seedling. But if we take seeds or bulbs, it is not a big problem.

First of all, study some information about the flower on the tags or packets. For example, annual flowers need to be replanted every year, but perennials bloom for years without replanting.

Secondly, native flowers are a better choice than exotics for beginners. They get used to weathering condition and grow in our region. The situation with exotic flowers is new for us because of special caring and insufficient knowledge about these plants.

Thirdly, try the role of flower designer. We think of all the best elements for our garden and remember that annual flowers have brighter colors than perennials.

Variety of flowers – the variety of time

Now we have the right place, good soil, and flowers. Next step is to select the perfect time for planting. Most of us think that it’s spring. And right, because not all flowers can survive cold or hot weather. How to choose the best time? We can use the flora calendar because we live in different regions and the weather can change because of that. If there is not the calendar, we wait several weeks after the last frost, when the ground will be warm and soft.

At the end of spring, we sow seeds of annuals. At the same time, the soil must be constantly maintained in a moist condition, so our flowers grow up quickly. This is a good time for planting dahlias, gladioluses, marigolds or chrysanthemums. We can plant any perennial flowers, for example, calendula, bluebells or daisies.

Plant from the end of August to the middle of September: Astilbe plants, crocuses, daffodils, goldenrods or fritillaries. At the end of September, the turn of tulips and lilies comes. Thus, bulbs, wildflowers, and roses need a period of cold resting for blooming in spring.

Planting flowers

The most important part is the process of planting flowers. We can plant seeds on the ground for the winter or before finishing the spring frosts. On the prepared area with loose soil, mark the places for sowing: make grooves with a depth of about 3 cm and sow the seeds of hardy annual flowers and water it.

What about potted flowers, necessary to prepare the soil: to dig and to level by a rake. Then it is worth digging a hole under the size of the roots and plentifully pouring in the water. The roots should literally burrow in the liquid from the ground and water. If desired, we can use fertilizers. Firs times after planting, we need to water flowers abundantly.

Easy growing flowers

There will be the most unpretentious flowers which we can grow in our areas.

This flower can grow up to 2, 5 meters and has a very thick stem. The sunflower blooms from July to August and maturation of seeds occurs in September. We need to choose a well-lit sun and a wind protected area. Soil for sunflower must be fertile

In the decorative flower garden, this flower is an important element of landscape design: they are planted along the fences and borders, on flower beds, on the alpine mountains. They are also used as an element of flower arrangements. Seedlings of nigella are gaining strength very quickly, and it will be possible to transplant it into open ground in May. The place for nigella should be open and sunny since in the shade the plant develops badly.

Fuchsia is a perennial, beautiful exotic flower, which has an unusual shape. It is very easy to care for fuchsia: it is enough to choose a suitable place, often water and nourish it. The flower will attract us unusually beauty from early spring to late autumn.

The best time for sowing these flowers is in May when the soil is sufficiently warmed up. Seeds will appear in a few weeks. For early flowering, we can sow the seed in February.

So, planting flower may seem a difficult and troublesome work which requires us to be responsible for our actions: and when buying plants or choosing a place. But it is the most interesting and exciting process because the result, obtained at the end, will attract us with wonderful flowers and incredible flavor for a long time.
